About Bee Ready

Our Story

How It Started

Bee Ready began with a simple observation: at youth sports events, there are often hundreds of players, coaches, and families gathered together—but limited access to immediate cardiac emergency response.

Founded by physician parents in the South Durham community, Bee Ready was created to bring trained responders and AED access to the sideline. Working alongside South Durham Little League, the initiative focuses on improving readiness for sudden cardiac events through practical, on-the-ground solutions.

The Bee Team

Youth at the Heart of It

At the core of Bee Ready is the Bee Team—a group of trained youth participants who learn CPR, AED use, and how to respond effectively in real-world situations.

Under adult supervision, they help provide sideline coverage at games and build confidence in stepping forward during emergencies.

OUR MISSION

Increase access to AEDs at youth sporting events

Train the next generation in CPR and emergency response

Promote a culture of preparedness and community responsibility

What's Next

Looking Ahead

As the program grows, Bee Ready aims to expand training opportunities, support youth-led initiatives, and bring AED readiness to more events across the community.
